Climbing
in the Julian Alps
The dream of all sportsmen,
who dare to challenge the Julian Alps and National park Triglav
One of the most popular climbing centers in Slovenia - Bohinj
- has been constructed systematically. A number of climbing sites (Pod Skalco,
Bellevue, Bitnje, Bohinjska Bela) and a multitude (more than 200) of quality
prepared routes of all degrees of difficulty are available to all, beginners,
families and those who seek the most challenging courses of the tenth degree (UIAA).
First climbing steps
At the climbing site of Pod Skalco, a team from local climber's club is always
present, which enables every interested person who wishes to test himself on a
proper climbing route to do so, as the club provides reliable protection.
Climbing courses
The climbing school is designed mostly for beginners. It usually lasts a week,
but different arrangements are also possible (individual lessons, day-long
courses...). The program comprises the most essential theory and a lot of
climbing on Pod Skalco and at the Bellevue climbing site and on an artificial
rock wall at the Pod Voglom hotel (4-5 hours per day).
Climbing with a guide
For more experienced climbers, we can organize climbing with a
partner-instructor at climbing locations in Bohinj and its vicinity (in the
winter on frozen waterfalls too). Of course, guided high-mountain trips (routes
of 100 - 1000 meters of length, degrees II to VII UIAA) are available for those
who seek proper mountaineering and high alpine rock walls.
Climbing on frozen waterfalls
