Description

Lake Bohinj is our largest alpine lake of glacier origin. It lies in the Triglav National Park. It's surface area is 3,18 km2 and maximum depth is 44m. Lake is rich with Lake Trout, Lake Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Chub, and cyprinids.

Bohinj and its 45 km of crystal-clear waters is a true haven for fishermen and exceptionally rich with fish. The fishing season lasts from April to October. In the Bohinj lake are all types of fishing possible. Experts say the best fishing months are May - June and September - October.

Fishing part

Bohinj Lake is managed by Bohinj Fishing Society

Fishing is possible in entire lake without tributaries. You can fish from the lake shore and boat. Motorboats are not allowed! Fishing from bridges is not allowed!

Fishing methods

Fishing is allowed with one gear and one natural or artificial lure only. Spinning, Fly-fishing and coarse fishing, using dead natural baits, are allowed. Fishing with alive fish, shell and bone worm is not allowed.

Felt-soled wading shoes or boots are recommended.

Equipment

Equipment you can rent for Fly-fishing and Fishing. In equipment are boots, rod and handbag. Of course can you rent also boat for the lake. Also other equipment for Fly-fishing and Fishing is available in shop.

Guiding

Guiding is possible for all rivers and lakes. Maximal 5 Persons is allowed for one guide.

Prices for Fishing

Tickets for Fishing you can buy in Hotel/Pension STARE at the Bohinj lake. There are several different types of fishing ticket.

The yearly fishing ticket for particular river or lake are also available.
