Bohinj and its 45 km of crystal-clear water is a true haven for fishermen and exceptionally rich in Brown Trout, Grayling, Lake Trout, and Brook Trout. The fishing season spans from April to October. Only fly-fishing is allowed in rivers, while all other types of fishing is possible in the lake.

General Fishing methods

On rivers, fishing methods vary with the season, the type of water, and the angler's personal preference. Dry fly, nymph or streamer are all popular techniques, although they depend on water condition. As regard to the rods, five- to nine-weight rods that are 8 1/2- or 9-feet long are commonly used.

Catch & Release section: Captured fishes must be immediately unharmed released.

BOHINJ LAKE
Fishing is allowed by using one rod and one bait (fly) only. Spinning is allowed on lakes only. Spinning, Fly-fishing and coarse fishing, using dead natural baits, are allowed. No fishing from bridges! 

SAVA BOHINJKA
Fly-Fishing is allowed by using one fly-rod and one fly only. Barb less hooks only should be used. When using barbed hooks, barbs should be either pressed or filed off. No fishing from bridges!

Wading is the most common technique along streams and rivers. Thigh Waders are handy on small streams or in high season when the waters are low, but chest waders are needed on the large rivers. Felt-soled wading shoes or boots are recommended.
