Fishing in National Park Triglav
Sava Bohinjka and Bohinj Lake in Julian Alps

Bohinj and its 45 km of crystal-clear water is a true haven for fishermen and exceptionally rich in Brown Trout, Grayling, Lake Trout, and Brook Trout. The fishing season spans from April to October. Only fly-fishing is allowed in rivers, while all other types of fishing is possible in the lake.

General Fishing methods

On rivers, fishing methods vary with the season, the type of water, and the angler's personal preference. Dry fly, nymph or streamer are all popular techniques, although they depend on water condition. As regard to the rods, five- to nine-weight rods that are 8 1/2- or 9-feet long are commonly used.

	Fishing from bridges is not allowed!
	Three salmonids of which only one grayling. Daily bag can contain only one salmon over 50 cm!
	After daily bag is landed all fishing must stop!

The Waterside CODE of behavior for Fishermen

	Leave no litter. Gather up the plastic bags, fishing line, and bait bags, and take them home;
	Never cross lands that are not signposted and that have no fishing structures;
	When in doubt, ask permission to cross land;
	Do not drive cars into fields;
	Do not cross meadows. Always walk along the waterside;
	Close all gates, and light no fires;
	Respect the land owner's property;
