Many possibilities for mountain-biking
The Bohinj area offers many possibilities for mountain-biking.
Numerous forest roads and paths lead to hidden parts of valleys, and trough
forests to the vicinity of mountain summits. You can make the trip alone, with
your own bike, or you can also rent one, or you can join a group with a
professional guide. Whichever way you choose, you are requested to respect the
environment which you are exploring and keep to the paths. So, why not holiday
on a bike?
The highlights of Bohinj
Round trip by bike through Bohinj, during which we visit and see selected local
highlights, natural monuments, churches, ethnological features, typical
architecture. The route begins at the lake, goes through Zgornja Dolina at the
hamlet of Bitnje we join the main road, but soon leave it to visit the Mostnica
waterfall. Then we go back through Spodnja Dolina to the lake.
Mountain pastures of Bohinj
A more demanding day-long tour. We can begin in the valley, but usually the
guides drive us in a van to the edge of the Pokljuka plateau - to the
extraordinary Vodnik viewing point. From there, we cycle along forest paths,
through centuries-old forests, to the Zajamniki mountain pastures, perhaps the
most beautiful example of our mountain pastures. Once we have crossed the
Uskovnica mountain pasture we descend into the valley.
Bike rental
Mountain-bikes can be hired at the reception-desks in hotels
Zlatorog, Pod Voglom, from the Triglav apartments, from Zlatorog autocamp, from
the programme organizers and the agency Alpinsport.
