The picturesque hills of Slovenia have long been covered with vines. According to old records, vines had already been cultivated in this area by the Celts. The winegrowing tradition was then continued by the Romans, medieval monks and landlords...

Slovenia is a country with huge potential for wine-making. Wine experts agree that the fruits of Slovenian winelands are amongst the finest in the world - an excellent wine country!

Podravje Winegrowing Region
The vineyards on the slopes along the Drava River give some of the best Slovene wines

Winegrowing districts: Maribor, Ptuj, Radgona-Kapela, Ljutomer-Ormož, Haloze, Šmarje-Virštanj, Prekmurje.

Excellent wines of noble varieties, mostly white wines characterized by a green-gold colour, pleasant flavour, exquisite aroma and typical bouquet. Their alcohol content ranges from 11 to 13 %.

Posavje Winegrowing Region
The rolling hills along the Sava River offer ideal conditions for winegrowing. 

Winegrowing districts:Bizeljsko-Sremič, Bela Krajina, Dolenjska and Šmarje-Virštanj.

The Posavje winegrowing district is the home of a special Slovenian wine - "Cviček". The red and white wines of this area are reputed for their pleasant lightness, distinct acidity and gentle bouquet.

Slovene Littoral Winegrowing Region
The influence of the Mediterranean climate can be felt in the wines of the Primorska-Littoral region

Winegrowing districts:Vipavska Valley, Koper, Goriška Brda, Kras.

White and red grape varieties thrive equally well in this region. The white wines are yellow-green in colour and contain 9-12 % alcohol. All the best that a sunny climate can offer is reflected in the superb red wines, which are a synonim for this region.
